This is a question that is often asked here in southwest Florida. The simples answer is YES…depending on your circumstances.
Some positives: You get a jump start on your competition - be the only listing on the block rather than 1 of 5. Buyers who are looking in the area during the summer tend to be a more serious about purchasing a property. We love our guests from the north who come here for vacation during the winter, they get very excited and decide to look at homes while they’re here - the problem is that they go back home and wait until next year or the next…out of sight, out of mind.
If your property is a worth several million dollars, the fact is it will most likely take longer to sell than a property worth several hundred thousand dollars. Its a numbers game, pure and simple, there are more buyers able to afford in the hundred thousands than in the millions. If this is your case, put the property on as soon as you can as it may take longer to sell.
In reality, it is ultimately your decision but don’t think that homes don’t sell here in the summer. Most of the homes that sat on the market during the winter end up selling during the summer.
